For arranged local delivery, there will be a charge of £30 within 10 miles of Windsor, £45 for up to 30 miles. Courier charges will apply for UK or international deliveries

  • By submitting this form you agree that you have seen the lion sculptures for sale and have read and understood our conditions of sale and wish to be bound by them and agree to pay the VAT and any other charges mentioned in the notice to bidders. This affects your legal rights.
  • This sale will be regulated by these Conditions. You should read the Conditions in conjunction with the Sale Information relating to this Sale which sets out the charges payable by you on the purchases you make and other terms relating to the bidding and buying at the Sale.   • Credit and Debit Card Payments There is no surcharge for payments made by debit cards issued by a UK bank. All other debit cards and all credit cards are subject to a 2% surcharge on the total invoice paid.
  • Additional VAT Christie's has kindly waived their buyer’s premium, however VAT of 20% is payable on the hammer price of all lots. Buyers will be issued with a VAT receipt.
  • Notice to Absentee and Telephone Bidders Clients are requested to provide photographic proof of ID – passport, driving licence, ID card, together with proof of address – utility bill, bank or credit card statement etc. Please use the Absentee Bidding Form

Full Term and Conditions

Female lions do 85-90% of the hunting, whilst the males patrol the territory and protect the pride.

With only around 20,000 left in the wild, lions are now officially classified as ‘vulnerable’.

Although known as the ‘king of the jungle’, most lions live on open grasslands or savannah. Only one group of wild forest-dwelling lions remains in the Gir Forest in India.

Lions hunt large animals such as zebra and wildebeest.

The Lion’s scientific name is Panthero Leo.

Numbers of wild lions in Africa have gone down by over 40% in the last three generations, due to loss of living space and conflict with people.

Lions used to be spread across most of Africa, but now are only found in sub-Saharan Africa. Lions have disappeared from 12 sub-Saharan countries in recent decades.

Female lions reach two-thirds of their adult size by the time they are two years old.

A female lion needs 5kg of meat a day. A male needs 7kg or more a day.

Lions run at a speed of up to 81km/h.

In the wild, lions live for an average of 12 years and up to 16 years. They live up to 25 years in captivity.

An adult male’s roar can be heard up to 8km away.
